CLUB PICTURE DAY - DATE CHANGED Club picture day has been set for 10/31 starting at 7:45am and groups will be called out by intercom. Hopefully, we will be finished by the beginning of TT.
PICTURE RETAKE DAY FOR UNDERCLASSMAN AND SENIORS Picture retake day has been set for 10/24 starting at 8:00am. Both seniors and underclassmen will have the opportunity to have their picture retake and will be called out by intercom. If an underclassman wishes to have their picture retaken and they have already bought a picture packet, they need to return those pics to Lifetouch when they report to the gym to have theirs retaken. In addition, if they are a senior they need to bring their proof packet when they report to the gym to have theirs retaken. However, if a student has not ordered pictures and wish to have them take they need to fill out an order form and return it and the money when they report to have their picture taken.
FHCC T-shirt money ($11) and sizes are due to Mrs. Haar by Wednesday, October 25th. Past this date you will NOT be able to order a shirt.
HELP AND FTA CLUB MEMBERS Dues have to be paid by October 20th to be in the club pictures and to be considered for any scholarships. HELP Club dues are $4. per year. FTA dues are $5. per year.
FBLA Place your order for shirts in the form set up in your FBLA Classroom or tell Mrs. Portell. Make sure and include size and which you would prefer a tee (13.00) or long sleeve tee (16.00). Deadline to pay is October 27, they will not be ordered unless I have received payment by this date. They will be blue with white lettering. We need a minimum of 12 orders.
FBLA The next FBLA meeting will be Thursday, November 2nd before or after school.
FBLA Let Mrs. Portell know if you are interested in participating in an event(s) for contest by October 31.
BIBLE CLUB Next weeks meeting will be moved to Oct. 26th because of Parent/Teacher conferences. The meeting will take place in Mr. Fulton's room because Mrs. Campbell will be gone. We are ordering T-Shirts; stop by Mrs. Campbell or Mr. Fulton's rooms to see a picture. They will cost $10 and we must have the money before we can place the order. Please bring dues of $4 on or before that date.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY We will have a practice for induction on Tuesday, 10/24, during 6th and 7th hours.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION The National Honor Society Induction is Tuesday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. In the gym. All old and new members are expected to attend. Letters were sent home last week about this event. If your family did not receive a letter/invitation please stop by the library to pick up another one.
STUCO/AMBASSADOR TRIP The convention will be November 1st. Permission slips can be picked up in Mrs. Rousan's room. They are due on Tuesday, October 31st.
VETERANS DAY Our Veterans Day Assembly will be held on November 10th at 10:15AM. If any student or teacher has a relative who is a veteran, they can honor them in the following ways: 1. Bring a picture to Mrs. Rousan to include in the Veterans Day power point. Pictures need to include their years of service and branch of military. If you have submitted a picture in previous years, they are already on the power point. 2. Invite them as a guest of honor to the assembly. They should arrive at 10:00 AM and report to the high school library. Students will be called out of class to escort them to the gym.
VARIETY THEATRE PERFORMANCE TO THE WIZARD OF OZ Students who have paid and turned in a permission slip will be leaving the school on Sunday, Oct. 22nd, at 11:30am and will not return til 7:30pm. As a group, we must leave at 11:30am so students are encouraged to be at the school 15 minutes early.
RED RIBBON WEEK Red Ribbon Week October 23-27, 2017 Theme: “Don’t Monkey Around with Drugs” • Monday, October 23th: “Wear red clothing to show that we rule we are an alcohol and tobacco free school. Bracelets and pencils will be given out during your Trojan Time by HELP Club. During all three lunch times, students will also be asked to sign a banner pledging to be DRUG FREE. • Tuesday, October 24th: BLACK OUT DRUGS DAY: Wear black shirts to take a stand against drug use. • Wednesday, October 25th: PEACE OUT DRUGS DAY: Wear tie-dye shirts to show that you are against drug use • Thursday, October 26th: PUT A LID ON DRUGS: Wear hats to show that we need to put a lid on/get rid of drug use and abuse. • Friday, October 27th: SHOW SCHOOL PRIDE DAY: Wear school colors or club shirts to show you are against drug use, and that you have “Purple Pride”
SEMO CAMPUS TOUR We'll be taking a campus tour to SEMO on Wednesday, October 25th. Students will have an opportunity to visit either the Main Campus or the River Campus, which is dedicated to fine arts programs such as art, music, dance, and theater. Students will have the choice to pick which one they'd like to see, and that should be marked at the bottom of the permission slip. The trip will last the length of the school day, and lunch will be provided. SEMO is an excellent university that's a reasonable distance from home and is known for its education, business and nursing programs, but has many more majors to offer. Permission slips are available now from Mr. Portell in the Counselor's Office and are due back no later than Monday, October 23rd.
COLLEGE APPLICATION WEEK Next week (10/23-10/27) is College Application Week! The daily schedule will go as follows: Monday: Mizzou Rep Visit during Trojan Time, Tuesday: Application Blitz, Wednesday: SEMO Campus Tour, Thursday: College Fair at MAC, Friday: Prize Raffle for completed applications! SENIORS All seniors will be attending the MAC College Day on Thursday, October 26th. Parent permission slips will be passed out during Trojan Time on Wednesday, October 18th and should be returned to your advisory teacher by Wednesday, October 25. .Seniors will load the bus around 9:00 and return by 5th hour. While at MAC seniors will have an opportunity to visit with representatives and collect information from numerous colleges around the state. Students need to bring lunch money, or let counseling office know if you would like a sack lunch. The buses will stop in Desloge for lunch.
